JEE Advanced: Overview

The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced is a national-level engineering entrance exam in India conducted for admission to the prestigious Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs). The exam opens the doors to 23 IITs across India for B.Tech/B.E and B.Arch programs. Only the top 2.5 lakh students from the JEE Main exam are eligible for this next level. The exam rotates between seven zonal IITs and follows the guidelines of the Joint Admission Board (JAB).

The syllabus has been updated to match the National Education Policy 2020 and NCERT guidelines, covering Physics, Chemistry, and Maths. The exam consists of two compulsory papers, each lasting three hours. The marking scheme and question types vary yearly, including MCQs, numerical aptitude, short answer, paragraph-based, and match the case questions. Watch out for negative marking!Scoring well in JEE Advanced demands understanding the exam pattern and syllabus, studying NCERT books, and practicing with previous papers and mock tests. Aim for a top rank by scoring 320+ marks. Even an 80+ score is considered good. For a shot at CSE at IIT Bombay, aim for a rank below 65.
