NEET Eligibility

Eligibility for NEET 2024 necessitates candidates to meet specific age, qualifying marks, and nationality criteria. It’s recommended to thoroughly review the detailed eligibility information below before commencing the application process:

Age Criteria

Candidates who have turned 17 or will do so by December 31st, 2024, are considered eligible. NEET Exam applicants no longer have an upper age limit of 25 years, as confirmed by the National Medical Commission.

Educational Qualification

Candidates from the general category/EWS must have scored at least 50% in PCB and English in their Class 10+2 from a recognized board. Reserved category applicants are eligible with a minimum of 40% in PCB. Biology as an optional subject fulfills the eligibility criteria.

Attempts Limit

There’s no cap on NEET Exam attempts. Candidates aged 17 and above meeting the eligibility can take the exam as many times as necessary.

Foreign Nationals and OCI/ NRI Candidates

OCI/NRI/Foreign National candidates can now access all seats for admission, complying with updated guidelines. Formerly, their eligibility was restricted to NRI or supernumerary seats.

NEET 2024 Syllabus

The NEET 2024 Syllabus, revised to match the latest class XI and XII NCERT syllabi in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology, has been released by the NMC.

Revised Syllabus of NEET 2024

NMC’s revision of the NEET Exam 2024 syllabus is notable, scaling it down from 97 chapters to 79. This reduction includes Chemistry, which now encompasses 20 units instead of the previous 30. Biology saw eliminations like seed dormancy, transport in plants, and others. Physics remains intact, except for a few topic removals and the inclusion of an experimental skills unit.

NEET Exam Pattern

  • Mode of the exam: NEET Exam 2024 is anticipated to be conducted in an offline mode, utilizing the pen-and-paper format across an extensive network of 500+ test cities in India. Furthermore, mirroring the previous year, it’s set to include examinations in 14 cities abroad
  • Medium of Exam: NEET exam is conducted in 13 languages.
  • Number of Questions: The NEET 2024 question paper will contain 200 multiple-choice questions (MCQs), but you’re required to answer only 180.
  • Number of Sections: NEET Exam 2024 will comprise 4 sections, with Biology further categorized into botany and zoology. Each subject entails 50 questions—35 in Section A and 15 in Section B. From Section B, candidates need to answer 10 out of the 15 questions.
  • Total Marks: The examination carries a total of 720 marks, with each of the four sections (Chemistry, Zoology, Botany, Physics) allotted 180 marks.
